Environment

Protecting the environment protects food. We at Kibun promise to be gentle on the Earth.

Kibun is a company that takes materials from nature and turns them into a rich assortment of foods. As such, and as a corporate citizen, Kibun is grateful for the blessings of nature and believes that it must strive to achieve harmony with the environment.

Each of our factories has been adopting energy-saving lighting and installing high-efficiency refrigeration equipment with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions. The Tokyo Factory was an early adopter of natural gas, which is considered to be a form of clean energy. The Shizuoka Factory is working on measures to fight global warming such as the adoption of natural refrigerants in place of chloroflurocarbons (CFCs).

In addition, at the Tokyo Factory (a Type 1 Designated Energy Management Factory), targets* were established for medium- to long-term energy conservation and power peak countermeasures, and we are introducing a gas cogeneration system (combined heat and power system, CHP) and making other efforts to cut energy consumption throughout the entire factory.

Note: Power peak reduction of 2,000 MWh or more per year.
